OUR FUNDRAISING

Our staff are the driving force behind our charity fundraising activities – from baking cakes to sponsored cycles and taking on Yorkshire’s Three Peaks Challenge. See what we’ve been up to recently and how Baily Garner positively impacts people’s lives.

Clive smith foundation

In 2023 we smashed our goal of raising £10,000 for the Clive Smith Foundation and totalled a massive £11,925 for the charity, which aims to increase awareness of mental health problems in the built environment. This was due to staff completing the immense Three Peaks Challenge.

Envision

We are proud partners of Envision, a UK charity that works with young people, helping to develop their skills for future employment. We have welcomed work-experience students through our doors for over seven years and regularly mentor school children.

Princes Trust

2016 saw a team of intrepid walkers hike 150 miles over five days from London to Birmingham – raising a total of £14,864 for The Prince’s Trust.

SANDS

In 2018 we raised a fantastic £4152.95 for the Stillbirth & Neo-Natal Death charity SANDS as our fabulous BG team braved the mud and bruises to complete the Tough Mudder challenge!

Helping young people

We’ve seen firsthand the breadth of talent amongst school leavers and recent graduates, and we’re committed to creating career opportunities for them.

In partnerships with schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions, we regularly offer work experience, internships, apprenticeships and sponsored study schemes to young people, helping them start a career in construction.

Early careers

Our investment in local communites

Working with communities is a large part of what we do, and we’re proud of the number of local people we employ on each project.

We often train labourers in new skills and help set up and support local enterprises, such as cleaning and catering businesses. Past projects have included creating community facilities, such as a cyber café, out of disused areas.

Additionally, our staff each get two CSR ‘donation days’ per year (two paid days in addition to their annual leave) that they can use for community activities. Whether they are contributing to a charity or a community project, it does not matter. The goal is to help make a difference.

We also support several organisations local to us that provide opportunities for young people to build team and collaboration skills through sport. Currently, we’re involved with teams in Eltham, Beckenham, Bromley and Bromsgrove.

Our environmental commitment

We are a forward-thinking, environmentally friendly practice. As well as prioritising sustainability and energy efficiency in our work, we promote recycling and green policies in our offices.

We’ve made numerous commitments to reduce our non-renewable energy usage, paper waste, and rubbish sent to landfills. We’ve also banned the use of single-use plastics in our offices.
