Egham Leisure Centre

Egham Leisure Centre—now known as Egham Orbit—is a modern, community-focused sports and leisure facility delivered as part of the £200m Runnymede Regeneration Programme. The centre is a joint initiative between Runnymede Borough Council and Places for People, aimed at promoting health and wellbeing in the local community.
The site needed to deliver significant public benefit while aligning with long-term regeneration plans. The construction also required precision in certification and oversight, given the range of specialist facilities being installed.
Appointed as Independent Certifier, we provided impartial oversight of the construction and completion stages, ensuring quality, compliance and programme integrity across all aspects of the build.
Facilities include a 25-metre, eight-lane swimming pool with moveable floor and spectator seating, a 10×10-metre learner pool, and a Health & Fitness Suite over two floors. This includes a 110-station fitness suite, multi-use sports hall, indoor cycling studio, four flexible studios, sauna and steam rooms, and both wet and dry treatment spaces.
Additional amenities include a community medical room, café, crèche, and a dramatic double-height adventure play area. Externally, new landscaped areas connect the building to existing five-a-side 3G pitches and expand outdoor options for residents.
Completed in spring 2019, the centre has been warmly welcomed by residents and is now managed by Achieve Lifestyle. It forms a key milestone in Egham’s wider regeneration and has quickly become a valued hub for sport, wellness, and community activity.
