ESG: where responsibility
meets results.
At Baily Garner, ESG is embedded in the way we think, lead, and deliver. It’s how we hold ourselves accountable to the people and places we serve. From our Net-Zero strategy to community engagement, we act with integrity to shape a better future.
With 90% of our clients in the public sector, we’ve always understood the power of responsible business. ESG helps us go further — creating measurable environmental impact, enabling social value, and setting new standards for transparency and ethical governance.

Carbon reduction plan
Looking toward Net Zero
As an organisation, we are committed to reaching Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 — and it’s already guiding change across the business. We’ve introduced a responsible procurement policy, completed retrofit feasibility studies for our offices, and continue to expand our electric vehicle fleet and reduce waste sent to landfill.
Sustainability isn’t just a project deliverable, it’s part of our culture. We’re reducing emissions where we can make the biggest difference, supporting clients with low-carbon tools and insights, and driving real-time progress across every team and service.
We’re growing, and with growth comes increased emissions. Accurately tracking Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and establishing a meaningful pre-COVID baseline have been complex but essential. It’s a challenge we’ve embraced, not avoided.
To reach Net Zero, we’re changing how we work, travel, procure and purchase. We’ve improved reporting, introduced carbon-aware procurement practices, planted trees through PrintReLeaf, and committed to greener energy and digital operations across all offices.
Our impact will be tracked through annual reporting, improved waste data, low-carbon procurement metrics, and greener fleet performance. This data guides decision-making and ensures we’re held to account at every step.

Leading the way forward with purpose
Helping young people
We’re dedicated to helping young people build a strong foundation in construction. From career talks and mentoring to internships, apprenticeships and sponsored study, our ‘growing our own’ ethos is a cornerstone of our recruitment strategy.
Through partnerships with organisations like Envision and educational institutions like Thomas Telford UTC, we support employability skills, provide real-world experience, and help unlock future opportunities. We’re proud to see so many of our early career recruits develop into senior leaders within the business.

Climate solutions
Sustainability runs through our operations. We’ve drastically cut printing, donated unused IT to charity, switched to EVs, and embraced office-wide green policies. But we know that action matters more than ambition.
As a B Corp, we’re pushing ourselves further through better tracking, smarter procurement, and everyday behaviours that reduce waste, save energy, and create measurable environmental benefits.

Charity initiatives
Our people bring real energy to the causes they care about. From taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to braving Tough Mudder, their commitment to fundraising has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities including The Prince’s Trust and SANDS.
Beyond the headline challenges, we support small initiatives that make a big difference — from bake sales to sponsored cycles. Giving back is part of who we are.

Supporting the Armed Forces
We’ve pledged to support veterans, reservists and service families in building meaningful careers beyond the military by signing the Armed Forces Covenant. It’s one more way we live our purpose — creating opportunities, building equity, and helping people thrive at every stage of their journey.
From mentoring through Barclays’ Military Work Placement Programme to developing our partnership with BuildForce and celebrating our people, like Associate Partner Jay Woolway, being shortlisted at the Ex-Forces Awards, we actively support those transitioning into civilian life.

Local communities
We go beyond the site boundary. On every project, we seek ways to create opportunities — hiring locally, supporting new enterprises, and repurposing disused spaces for community use.
Each team member gets two Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) days annually to support the causes they care about. With 365 days pledged every year, the collective impact adds up fast. Whether it’s volunteering, mentoring, or grassroots sport, we’re proud to be part of the communities we serve.
