Baily Garner launches Net-Zero Strategy

June 20, 2025
We are proud to introduce our Net-Zero Strategy, showcasing our short and long-term plans to neutralise our emissions by 2050. Read full statement:

Baily Garner has launched a new strategy to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

It includes targeted actions to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions to zero by 2030, with a Scope 3 reduction of 20% by the same date and reaching net zero across all scopes by 2050.

The strategy builds on an initial emissions review carried out between 2021-2022 and subsequent roadmap developed in collaboration with environmental consultancy Love Design Studio, whose recent Carbon Impact Report provided the validation we needed to launch our official Net-Zero Strategy.

“One of the objectives on our business plan is to be a responsible business, and a key part of meeting it is reducing our impact on the environment,” said Bradley Webster, Managing Partner.

“We’ve enacted several carbon reduction initiatives across our operations and have a clear picture of the impact they’ve had on our emissions profile. Now, we can move forward with our strategy confident in reaching net zero by 2050.”

Our Net-Zero Strategy is the primary action we are taking to improve our score of 11/20 in the Environment category when we undergo our next B Corp Impact Assessment in May 2027.

It encompasses direct emissions (scope 1), indirect emissions related to energy consumption (scope 2), and those generated through activities from assets not owned or controlled by us but are part of our value chain (scope 3).

As an example, if one of our colleagues drives a company-owned vehicle to a project site, any emissions produced during that journey are scope 1; when they return to the office and use a power outlet to charge their laptop, they’re generating scope 2 emissions, while those produced during the manufacture and transport of that laptop are included in scope 3.

What actions are we taking to reach Net Zero?

We have released the full details of our Net Zero journey to date on our website – but the headline improvements we have made, or are in the process of making, are:

A completely hybrid/electric fleet – We have transitioned 62% of our fleet to hybrid or electric vehicles and are on track to reach 100% by 2028.

Energy-efficiency improvements – We have switched to a more energy efficient boiler in our London office, switched all lighting to automatic LED lights and will enact a programme of building fabric improvements to our offices over the next two years.

Responsible purchasing – We have transferred the majority of our data to a more environmentally conscious cloud-storage provider and purchased a zero-carbon tariff for electricity in our London office.

We will reduce our emissions as far as possible, however, should we be required to neutralise remaining emissions to reach net zero, we are evaluating offset schemes verified for use within the Science Based Targets initiative framework, such as UK-based projects Pure Biochar or the Woodland Carbon Code.

The full details of our Net-Zero Strategy are contained within our Carbon Impact Report for 2024, and all subsequent annual reviews will measure progress against this year, which will serve as a baseline.
